RCIA is short for The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Adults who are interested in coming into the Catholic Church are invited to join an RCIA group. At Holy Cross and Saint Patrick’s, we use the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church as sources for the teaching, and we respond to the teaching by sharing and encouraging each other. This year we are looking at:
Why faith in God is reasonable. This section should help those looking for Faith, and help those with Faith to defend their faith when questioned about it.
What Catholic’s believe. This section looks at the Trinity – The Father, Son and Holy Spirit; Jesus Christ’s Life, death and resurrection; the human person; the Catholic Church and the Nicene Creed.
The Commandments and the Beatitudes are about how we live our Catholic faith.
All our lives are lived in God’s grace, but through the Sacraments of the Catholic Church we are given sanctifying grace – a share in God’s Holy Trinitarian Life.
As we follow these four sections we include Prayer – looking at the different ways to pray and respond to God’s grace. Special place is given to the Lord’s Prayer (The Our Father).
This year we are planning to meet in the Social Club next to St Patrick’s Church, in Hector St SE18 1QT on Wednesdays from 7pm to 8pm in term time. We plan to start on Wed 19th Sept 2018.
